Independence Day Unveiling: A Gift of the Future for Liberia
As Liberians around the world prepare to celebrate Liberia’s 179th Independence Day on July 26, 2026, they do so with a spirit of gratitude, national pride, resilience, and hope. Independence Day has long served as a moment to reflect on Liberia’s journey, celebrate its achievements, and look toward a brighter future for the next generation.
In that same spirit, Empowerment Squared is proud to present the Independence Day Unveiling, a special virtual event that honors Liberia’s 179th Independence Anniversary by revealing a bold new investment in the country’s future.
PHASE I IS COMPLETE AND THE IMPACT IS ALREADY TRANSFORMING LIVES
In December 2024, we celebrated the grand opening of Phase I of the Liberian Learning Center alongside community members, volunteers, staff, partners, and the President of Liberia, Joseph Nyuma Boakai, who described the Center as:
“One of the most important developments in postwar Liberia.”
What once existed only as a dream is now alive and recognized as one of the most environmentally sustainable modern buildings in Liberia built with compressed earth blocks featuring a rainwater collection system, solar power, and passive energy systems.
Within the first year of operations, the Center has already:
- Served over 13,000 community members
- Reached 36 surrounding communities
- Hosted educational and social programming for thousands of children and youth
- Supported entrepreneurship and innovation initiatives
